midwest driven tour for alz 2018
On August 18th 2018 eleven cars and twenty drivers and co-drivers met for an epic day-long rally called the Midwest Driven Tour. We met at 6am in Columbia, MO and headed out at 7am to our official first stop. On our way to the first meeting point one of our group got the only speeding ticket of the day, from a motorcycle police officer mere miles from our destination. Our destination was Westport Plaza for a Cars and Coffee St.Louis event. Over 500 cars gathered of all makes from classic Toyota's to new Lamborghini's. The group walked around and looked at cars, all the while enjoying each others company and camaraderie. At 10am we left as a group for the first stage of the tour. To Hermann, MO! The drive was beautiful and the weather was perfect, much fun was indeed had, and when we arrived at our destination we parked at the stunning riverfront, and walked together to eat lunch at the finest German sausage meisters in the midwest, the Hermann Wursthaus. Wurstmeister Mike gave the tour group a special tasting of some of the most delicious wursts around. After lunch we walked back to the cars feeling refreshed and ready for stage 2 of the journey. Stage 2 was even more interesting than 1, including some of the best back roads that Missouri has to offer, with some of the most lush beautiful scenery imaginable and only a little gravel! Every stop we took people were constantly asking us what the tour was all about, and to much excitement from us some strangers even donated money on the spot to the Alzheimers Association! Once the tour was complete we met at the base of the waterfalls at Mammoth Springs park in the very tip of Arkansas for a walk around the park. Much fun was had and many memories were made on the first Driven Tour and we plan on having more soon.
